MBE 501 Advanced Quantitative Methods (3 semester hours)
The course covers the areas of probability theory, sampling, estimation, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis. It covers statistical techniques and their application to economic and business analysis. It introduces students to widely used techniques and data analysis, and provides a basis for understanding advanced statistical methods.

 

MBE 502 Advanced Econometrics (3 semester hours)
This is an advanced course of econometric principles and includes the following topics: regression, estimation and testing, stationary time series models, limited dependent variable models, longitudinal (panel) data models, generalised methods of moments, instrumental variable models, non-stationarity, stochastic trends and co-integration.

 

MBE 503 Advanced Microeconomics (3 semester hours)
Study consumer behaviour, individual firms and their market interaction, the role and effects of public policy and of the importance of asymmetric information, general equilibrium analysis and welfare economics, and factor markets.

 

MBE 504 Advanced Macroeconomics (3 semester hours)
This course reviews recent developments in macroeconomic theory and its applications in the area of  aggregate consumption, investment and financial markets, labour markets and product markets, monetary policy, growth models, macroeconomic dynamics and models.

 

MBE505 Advanced Finance (3 semester hours)
Development and use of basic financial information for management analysis, decision-making, planning and control, along with exploration of contemporary financial institutions. Financial theory and applied financial analysis. Topics include security analysis, portfolio management, corporate financial policy, investment banking and international finance.

 

MBE506 Financial Accounting (3 semester hours)

Introduction to the basic assumptions, principles and techniques that form the basis for contemporary accounting practices. It develops a background and understanding of accounting theories and procedures. Other topics include: European and international standard setting, financial instruments, and income tax allocation, and a study of financial reporting in the not-for-profit and public sectors.

 

MBE507 Marketing Management (3 semester hours)

After completing this course, students should be able to understand and critical evaluate the tactical and strategic marketing decisions of an organization and give advise on the improvement of these decisions. The course will present the marketing philosophy, will cover the traditional marketing tools, including marketing communications, product and service decisions, pricing and distribution and will also cover newer tools, such as relationship marketing and various necessary tools such as marketing research. It will also discuss the principles of strategic marketing.

 

MBE508 International Strategic Management (3 semester hours)

Study of international strategic management issues. Practical approaches to the design, execution and interpretation of strategic issues. Development of analytical skills and research techniques, and appropriate uses of various research designs and strategies. Review of the international business environment.

 

MBE509 Computer Based MIS (3 semester hours)

Analysis of microcomputer use in business, including information systems, modelling, decision-support systems, text editing, presentation graphics and telecommunications. Study of the role of information systems and technologies. 

 

MBE570 Seminars and Workshops I (3 semester hours)

Students must follow a number of seminars and workshops that are offered throughout the year. They prepare a research paper that is presented in one of the international conferences organized by the Institute.  This work can be used as a foundation for writing their graduate thesis. Students in the first semester they develop a proposal. In the second semester they prepare a draft paper.

 

MBE580 Seminars and Workshops II (3 semester hours)

Students must follow a number of seminars and workshops that are offered throughout the year. They prepare a research paper that is presented in one of the international conferences organized by the Institute.  This work can be used as a foundation for writing their graduate thesis. Students in the first semester they develop a proposal. In the second semester they prepare a draft paper.

 

MBE600 Graduate Thesis (6 semester hours)
Students will develop a proposition to be maintained against argument.  The result will be a monograph embodying original research.  The student will begin with an idea, develop a hypothesis, create a research design, create a survey instrument if necessary, carry out the research, analyze data, state a conclusion and document the process and conclusions. Theoretical work based on strong mathematical and analytical methods is preferred, especially for those students who want to continue for Ph.D.
